There are many ways in which the community can help preserve this precious piece of our heritage and that is why the “Friends of Waller Park” was created in June, 1982.

They held their first public meeting on June 3, 1982. In order to launch the group’s membership drive they organized a Day in the Park on November 20, 1982, to provide the community a day of free family entertainment.
